Emotions-Consciousness-Energy centers (continuation.....)
In my last post, I discussed the connection between our emotions and our levels of consciousness. I was convinced by
this argument, but then Hawkins introduced a new concept to me of consciousness and energy centers.
As I was talking about levels of consciousness with specified amounts of energies. Within our body operates an
energy system. Now, our body is full of channels (nadis), and the focal point where all these channels converge is known as the chakras, or energy vortex, which radiates electromagnetic energies that have the power to give as well as receive energies. These chakras run down our spine and are seven in number. These chakras build connections between body parts
and our emotions. We can analogy it to a flowing river. We all face emotional wounds and traumas. These emotional
wounds and traumas can block the electromagnetic energies from the chakras and thus prevent them from delivering
prana, or life force (a/k/a kundalini energy), to our bodies. When there is a free flow of this kundalini energy across
the chakras, both upwards and downwards, we experience an expanded state of awareness and consciousness.
This is called kundalini awakening. Hence, attending to these traumas and healing from them is essential. Seane antidote it to chakra flow yoga. Kundalini helps us connect with ourselves and our consciousness through a set of practices called kriyas: meditation
, mantras, breathing exercises, and certain postures.
Another aspect of chakras is that they are the gateways of different forms of ourselves. We can pay attention to one
chakra through chakra meditation.. which makes us aware of what is happening in that chakra, and thereby energy in that chakra is enlivened by our
attention. In simple terms, to activate our energy, we need to attend to the chakra, which is possible through awareness.
Hawkins says that this kundalini awakening happens at the level of courage. Thus, he shows how important it is.
for us to reach the level of courage to have all this Kundalini energywork in us. This also shows that till the time we choose to live in the survival paradigm, we will not experience this
energy, but the moment we step up to courage, there is a transformative flow of energy within ourselves, and we live
at lower levels.
This kundalini energy is dormant and remains silent at the base of the spine. We need to awaken it and make the flow
of energy happen successfully. This Kundalini awakening primarily talks about the upward current of energy (a/k/a
current of liberation). This can be attained through kundalini yoga.
It is also known as yoga of awareness or consciousness. Just focusing on the upward current of energy is not good.
So a downward current of energy is also essential (a/k/a current of manifestation).
