Qualities of inner self

The starring word of our lives is "the self."

Who is this self, the inner self?

Someone whom I can see with my eyes. Na, if so, I would have been able to describe it well. It is pretty easy to define what we are able to see well with our eyes.

Then I can see myself in the mirror, and I can define it profoundly. Then is this "the self?"

The answer seems yes; this could be the self, as it talks about how I look, but I am sorry, this is not your real self. It is just an outer representation of you. There is something deep down within us that is not visible yet powerful enough to carve you or starve you. It lives in our subconscious mind (Schaefer et al., 2017), the very place that we can visit anytime we want to explore something. So, our inner selves can be found through our efforts to search for them.

The inner self may not be very shiny or attractive, but it speaks of everything that makes us us—our attitude, our attributes, our potential, our weaknesses, and our strengths. This inner self is some unique combination that defines me. This is an attributed look. When our outer body matches this inner self, we become the real one.

My outer self is what I saw in the world and wanted to have as my qualities. These are acquired looks.

We all have these two looks in ourselves always and all the time. The beauty of life lies in how I handle both of them.

Our outer self is something we see in our mirrors. The physical beauty and all the pride and admiration I got because of it. All the qualities I try to acquire and maintain in order to please people around me. All these are not my genuine me but the created me, which many times I starve because I cannot get the nourishment it needs to maintain it. This is the outer, unreal me.

When our outer body mismatches the inner self, we become the disorganised us.

Life with the real you is beautiful and meaningful, while life with the disorganised you is imprisonment.
