The fire walk

Cadet Josh was an intelligent guy full of enthusiasm and zeal. He had all the skills heneeded to become a fighter . He felt content in himself and was looking forward to a
challenging posting after his commissioning on 28th June, 2023.His batchmates patted him
saying, "You will definitely write a new era in the pilot's history." He would quietly smile and
say to himself, "Yeah! I'll do it.'

Every morning as he got up he would strike off a day from his calendar reminding himself
that he is one more day nearer to his destiny. There he would smile and sigh to himself and
say, 'Ah! Just a few more days and I'm up in the air to conquer the unfair.’
His faculties were proud to have him on board with no match to him. At this moment Josh
says, 'The table is set. I have to just toast my glass and celebrate my victory.’

The countdown begins. The final touch-up for the ceremony has begun. Everyone was busy
making themselves to be in their best form. The air was just heated up with the enthusiasm
of bearing the weight of the stars on their shoulders and the galore of the peak cap with the
emblem. They all were on cloud-nine roasting their dreams of leading a flying staffel to its
victory.

Josh was already on gear to fathom the unfathomable. He had already started to think of all
the impossibles that the force has not yet achieved to be on his list. He was now planning to
fly his queen jet at a speed no one has done. Further, he wished to fire his missiles at this
speed without being spotted by his enemy and yet destroy them massively. The time was
such that his brain could not stop creating long chains of conquests.

Just a few more days were left. The cadets were working on their detailed tasks at the base.
All was calm and the sun was shining bright, making everyone's eyes glitter with dreams of
destiny. Just about that time of moment when silence was making its millennial trip to the
horizon when a wild commotion broke her mindful transcendence. Everyone heard this blast
on the base and they all ran to the runway where they saw a UFO land. The air force police
and intelligence rushed to surround the craft. Rest all were instructed to leave the place. No
one wanted to go but all were pushed back.

Amidst all these hue and cry Josh saw the spacecraft's door open and by then he was
pushed inside the room. The curiosity built in him even more. He wanted to see who was
inside. His soul wouldn't allow him to sit quiet. He quickly peeked from the window. Right at
that moment he could experience a flash of bright light in front of his eyes. He just could not
see anything for a fraction of the second. Concurrently he felt some warmth in his hands. As
he looked down, he saw a baby creature- neither human, nor any animal he had known. He
was about to drop it down out of fear when he heard a voice- "save his life, he needs you."
Bewildered, he raised his eyes and saw the dilapidating alien from the spaceship. This tiny
creature was an exact copy of the alien. Now everything became clear to him. He quickly
slipped him into his pocket.

Josh again rose his head and tried to gaze into the eyes of the alien who was expectantly
waiting for his reply. Josh nodded his head. With a sigh of relief the mother alien collapsed
on the base. The officers rushed her to the base clinic.

After an hour long exploration of this giant creature, the doctor discovered a poisonous herb
on her feet. Her breath was getting shallower and shallower every minute. The pathologist
rushed to find its antidote and to his surprise that was only available on our planet Earth.
The story became more clearer- so this spaceship came to Earth not to harm us but to find
this antidote.

On the other hand, Josh rushed to his room and took him out. The child was breathing
heavily. He didn't know how to help him. Marching up and down the length of his room, he
just couldn't find a way to help this child. If he takes him to the doctor, all will hold him like an
intruder. If he doesn't take it, this child will surely die.

'What to do? what to do?’

In the wee of this time when nothing came to his mind he heard a knock on his door. Quickly
hiding the alien child in the gunny bag nearby he rushed to open the door. He went
speechless with protruding eyes as he opened the door. The shrillness of silence was louder
than anything around. The silence was broken by these words of the visitor-"What, now don't
say you weren't expecting me?"

Shaking his head off Josh replied, 'No..no it's not like that. Your coming was a boon to me.’
Samantha is an astrobiologist and a good childhood friend of Joseph. They both had studied
and explored things with good vigour every time. She had been his best friend for ages and
now his fiancee too. So, her dropping in was indeed a boon for him.

Slipping down into the couch Samantha relaxed after her overnight trip from her research
centre in California in the US to Luxembourg in the UK. They had planned to travel to
London together after his ceremony for tying the knot.
Seeing Samantha next to him, the pale colour of Josh's face slowly settled down. He too
now settled in a chair nearby taking a sigh of relief. Seeing this shift in Josh's face Samantha
asked, "Are you anxious?"

'O no. I am very relieved to see you, Sam.’

"I am that good."

Pulling Samantha from her couch, he dragged her to the gunny bag. Slowly he lifted the
cover. Samantha was speechless with a wide open mouth and protruding eyes.
Quickly regaining her senses, she inquired, "How...why....when..."

Josh said, 'l'll tell you these all later. First examine the child. He needs help.’

With twinkling eyes, Samantha carried the sweet baby in her arms to the table. There she
examined him thoroughly and was shocked to discover beta carotene intoxication. The baby
had consumed spinach and was suffocating. Looking at Josh she said, | need to rush him to
a doctor. He needs emergency help or else he will die.

"Josh | need Phenergan or any antiallergen right now."

Josh finding the hand of Samantha was now much more confident. He rushed to the nearest
dispensary to grab these. There in the dispensary he found his friend Tim.

'Hey Tim, it's nice to see you here. How are you doing?’

"I'm doing good but what are you doing here? You should be in the auditorium now,"
inquired Tim.

'I'll tell you all these later. You give me Phenergan or any antiallergen.' Collecting them he
hurried to Samantha.

Samantha quickly injected phenergan and stabilised the vitals of the ailing child and said to
Josh now we need to take him to the nearest astrobiology centre for further treatment. They
have all the equipment needed to work on aliens.

They both searched. The astrobiology centre was nowhere. Samantha without wasting time
connected to her dean on video conference and briefed him of the case. The dean agreed to
arrange for a chopper lift. Meanwhile the dean kept instructing Samantha to keep the baby
comfortable. The dean asked Josh to connect him to the commander-in-chief to do the
legals. Josh went out and briefed it to the commander-in-chief.
So, in my story I have used third person point of view to make my story look beautiful.| could use first person point of view(from Josh's own feelings) and from second person’s point of view(when Samantha would have narrated the story of Josh). Then I have put a twist by adding a situation which creates conflict in the protagonist's mind and here he has to make the difficult choice( I could have used this twists in many more forms like place a weakness of the protagonist as a challenge to win over his own weakness or I could put a resistance from the loved one which he/she has to solve wisely. This will show his character. In the same way I can think of any situation that I face in my life or I observe around me in my story to bring about a teaching lesson or a wise move. Thereafter I have put the suspense entry of Samantha give the story a twist as well as love element will sooth the tensed environment. This climax turns are the real game player of your stories. If you can make your climax most exciting and thrilling, your readers will be hooked to it until the end and that is what we want. So, one of the important aspect of our story is to be able to think a challenging climax that sends an adrenaline rush in our nerves. Then I introduced the adrenaline rush moments showing the quickness of treatment that made the story fast paced and helped the reader to be engaged. Then finally I ended with a solution to help the alien child.
